I keep hearing mixed opinions about whether saving videos outside the app actually takes away from creators’ views. A friend of mine who posts dance clips swears her numbers dropped when people started sharing her stuff privately instead of watching it directly on her page. But I can’t tell if that’s coincidence or if it really affects reach. Does anyone know if this is a real issue or more of a myth?

I think it depends on how people interact overall. If they only save and never engage, it might feel like creators are missing out. But at the same time, the content still circulates. I use the SnapInsta app to save tutorials I want to rewatch offline, but I always hit like first so the creator gets the engagement. My view is that saving alone doesn’t kill numbers, it’s the lack of in-app activity that makes a difference.
